Mantle melting
“Hot liquid “
What are volcanoes? Volcanoes are mountains or hills with
openings through which gases, lava and ash rise up from below the earth’s crust. How are volcanoes formed ? Well, to find this
Deep below the surface of the earth,is called the earth’s core. It is surrounded by a hot liquid and mantle rock. The liquid is so hot it melts the mantle rock. When the rock melts, it expands and the pressure is so great that lava is pushed through the cracks line to the earth’s surface forming a
volcano.
Volcanoes are dangerous. The hot lava that comes out from a volcano can cause fires. Sometimes lava can even smother whole cities or islands. The clouds of smoke
released by volcanoes are filled with poisonous gases and if people breathe in the gases it can kill them.
The good thing about volcanoes is that they help make the soil rich. The soil made from volcanic rock
contains a lot of minerals that help plants grow very well. Farmers know that the land around volcanoes is the best farmland in the world.
